‘All’s well that ends well’: Tripura CM Manik Saha hails NDA victory in village committee polls, appeals for peace

‘All’s well that ends well’: Tripura CM Manik Saha hails NDA victory in village committee polls, appeals for peace

Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 5 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday hailed what he described as a “massive victory” for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and appealed to people to maintain peace and communal harmony across the state.
Following the declaration of the election results, Saha spent considerable time at the BJP state headquarters reviewing the post-poll situation and interacting with party workers.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the Health portfolio, said police and the local administration were taking necessary steps to maintain law and order following isolated incidents reported from some areas.
“According to the news coming in, the trend/victory is in favour of India everywhere. Very good results are coming, matching what we had expected. I think by late afternoon, a clearer picture will emerge. However, everything is in our favour so far, and the results align with our expectations,” Saha said.
He said party workers were happy with the results but added that the final picture would become clear only after completion of the ballot paper counting process.
“Everyone is happy, including all our party workers. The full picture isn’t completely clear yet because, as you know, voting was done via ballot papers, and counting ballot papers takes time. Once the final results are in, you will get all the updates,” he said.
On reports of isolated incidents following the elections, Saha said authorities were taking necessary action according to the situation and that police had been deployed in the affected areas.
“Regarding isolated incidents in a few places, the authorities are taking necessary action according to the situation. Our police department has been deployed there. As you can see on social media, these are minor incidents, and overall the situation remains good everywhere,” he said.
Saha appealed to people to ensure that the post-election period remained peaceful and urged supporters to avoid violence despite the NDA’s electoral victory.
“My message to everyone is ‘all’s well that ends well’. We want the process to end smoothly and peacefully. Even after winning the election, we must stay away from the post-poll violence that Communists used to indulge in,” he said.
Taking a dig at the opposition Congress and CPI(M), Saha said their leaders were aware of the political situation and their future.
“They know their own future very well. If I talk about their future, people might think that we are the ones saying it. But they know very well themselves that they are currently fighting for their own existence,” Saha said.
Echoing the Chief Minister’s appeal, BJP Tripura State President Abhishek Debroy said the NDA’s victory should be celebrated responsibly and without causing distress to anyone.
He urged party cadres to follow an inclusive path and work with all sections of society as BJP workers gathered at the state headquarters to discuss the political situation following the Village Committee elections. The election results have given the NDA a significant political boost in the state, with the BJP leadership calling on its workers to maintain peace and harmony as the post-election process continues.
This version keeps the election victory as the main story, followed by the CM’s peace appeal, law-and-order update and his remarks on the opposition. (ANI)
