Palnadu (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 27 (ANI): Seven people were killed on the spot, and two others sustained critical injuries after a private travel bus collided with an auto-rickshaw near Adda Road in Chilakaluripet of Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu district on Thursday.
According to preliminary information, the private travel bus was heading from Vijayawada towards Chennai when it rammed into an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers who were travelling from Konda Manjuru to Vellore to attend a function when the accident occurred.
Upon receiving information about the collision, local police, along with 108 emergency ambulance personnel, rushed to the scene and shifted the injured individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Reacting to the tragic accident, Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic loss of lives in the incident.
Expressing grief over the recurring loss of precious lives in road mishaps, the Minister said, "Journeys should take people to their destination, not to their final destination."
The Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed healthcare officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured passengers.
He also instructed transport department officials to take immediate steps to address the situation at the accident site and restore traffic normalcy.
The Minister further urged everyone to follow road safety rules and travel carefully to prevent such accidents.
Earlier, in a separate incident on August 24, a police constable died while a Sub-Inspector and a driver were injured after their vehicle met with an accident due to brake failure in Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh.
The accident took place when the police vehicle was going to Kondakarakam village in Vizianagaram district for investigation. The accident occurred due to brake failure.
Constable Venkata Ramana, who was seriously injured in the incident, died. Injured SI Nagendera Prasad and vehicle driver Rajababu are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas and Vizianagaram District SP Damodar visited the injured policemen at the hospital. (ANI)
