Anil Vij attacks Rahul Gandhi, accuses Congress leader of 'obsession with publicity'

Anil Vij attacks Rahul Gandhi, accuses Congress leader of 'obsession with publicity'

Ambala (Haryana) [India], August 21 (ANI): Slamming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of being "afflicted by an obsession with publicity", Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition is trying to remain in the limelight by turning even straightforward issues into political stunts.
Vij, while speaking in Ambala, also made a controversial remark alleging that the Congress leader's "hunger has not been satisfied" by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the killings during Partition. The minister made the remarks while criticising over his decision to stage a sit-in protest.
"Rahul Gandhi is afflicted by an obsession with publicity and a desperate need to remain in the limelight," Vij said. He alleged that even issues that could be addressed through normal procedures were being turned into political demonstrations by Gandhi.
He said the Supreme Court has already constituted a five-member high-level team to investigate the matter, with the panel headed by a former apex court judge, and Gandhi should trust the judicial process instead of holding a protest.
"Regarding the issue for which he is staging a sit-in today, the Supreme Court has already constituted a high-level, five-member team to investigate the entire Jantar Mantar matter--a team headed by a former Supreme Court judge. He ought to place his trust in that process," Vij said.
"His aim is to spread anarchy across India," the BJP leader added.
Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in protest at Parliament Street police station on Friday to demand an FIR on Sahil Lochav's complaint.
"A pellet gun was used at Connaught Place on 20th July. AIIMS report clearly says that there are more than 200 shells inside his ( Lochav's) body and 3 in his eye. He has lost vision in that eye. There are shells near his heart that cannot be touched. Delhi Police say they did not fire pellet guns. So, there is just one question: someone must have done it...A crime has indeed happened," the Congress leader said.
"We are demanding that an FIR be registered. They told us that they have received an order from the top and they cannot file an FIR. We won't budge from here until an FIR is registered...All we demand is justice for this family...In this country, Amit Shah's Home Ministry and Delhi Police personnel won't let justice happen," he added.
Delhi Police has registered an FIR in connection with the pellet gun injury case under Sections 118 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following Gandhi's protest. (ANI)
