Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 15 (ANI): The Food Safety Wing of Karnataka’s Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration inspected 80 sweet manufacturing and sales establishments and collected 125 food samples during a statewide special inspection drive on October 14.
The drive was conducted as per the directions of Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) Regulations, 2011, according to a press release issued by the Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, on Thursday (October 15).

Following the inspections, notices were issued to 10 sweet manufacturing units and food business operators. Further legal action will be initiated in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the rules and regulations framed in 2011.
The department stated that inspections of sweet manufacturing and sales establishments violating food safety and quality standards would continue, and stringent legal action would be taken as per the rules.
