Patna (Bihar) [India], September 22 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the 'Sankalp' auditorium to assess the progress of mega infrastructure and welfare projects valued at over Rs 100 crore under the 'Bihar Gati' initiative, along with other centrally sponsored and state schemes.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to fast-track all ongoing development works, maintain high quality standards, and ensure completion within stipulated deadlines through strict inter-departmental coordination and regular monitoring.
Key departments reviewed during the session included Road Construction, Water Resources, Industries, and Social Welfare. Department secretaries—including Pankaj Kumar Pal (Road Construction), Chandrashekhar Singh (Water Resources), Kundan Kumar (Industries), and Vinod Singh Gunjiyal (Social Welfare)—briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of their respective projects.
Reviewing industrial infrastructure, the Chief Minister directed the Industries Department to operationalise the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, being developed under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), by the second week of October. The project is projected to attract industrial investments worth approximately Rs 20,000 crore to the state. Officials were instructed to complete the required support infrastructure and utilities in a time-bound manner.
Reviewing schemes run by the Social Welfare Department and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), including Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti-Samarthya, and nutrition schemes for adolescent girls, the Chief Minister issued strict directives to release all pending honorariums of Anganwadi and associated frontline workers before the upcoming Durga Puja festival. He emphasised that the benefits of women and child development schemes must reach targeted beneficiaries without administrative delays.
The Chief Minister reviewed key road connectivity projects, specifically directing the Road Construction Department to prepare a detailed plan to widen the Sultanganj-Tarapur-Sangrampur-Belhar-Katoria-Chandan-Dardmara route. He instructed officials to develop the section from 0.0 km to 40.0 km into a four-lane highway and ensure four-lane construction on the stretch from Belhar to Dardmara to cater to future traffic demands.
Directives were also issued to expedite urban drinking water supply projects for Aurangabad, Sasaram, and Dehri, which rely on the surface water of the Sone River. The Chief Minister stressed that there must be no laxity in providing quality potable water to citizens.
Additionally, the Water Resources Department was instructed to speed up construction work on the barrage over the Kamla River in Jaynagar, Madhubani district, to ensure timely irrigation benefits for local farmers.
The meeting also explored clean energy initiatives, with the Chief Minister directing officials to prepare a feasibility study and comprehensive action plan for the solarisation of canals and river embankments across South Bihar.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Environment, Forest & Climate Change) Anand Kishore, along with secretaries of energy, sports, revenue, and other senior officials. (ANI)
