BJP will secure bigger victory in 2027 UP Assembly polls: State BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary

BJP will secure bigger victory in 2027 UP Assembly polls: State BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary

New Delhi [India], September 4 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary on Friday exuded confidence in the party's preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, saying the BJP is strengthening its organisation at the grassroots level and will secure a bigger victory than it did in 2022.
Speaking to ANI, Chaudhary said the party was currently verifying its booth-level organisation and was prepared for the upcoming electoral battle.
"We are conducting a verification of our booth-level organisation. We are prepared right down to the grassroots level. I can confidently say that we will secure an even bigger victory in 2027 than we did in 2022," he said.
His remarks came after the BJP announced the names of members of the working committees of all six of its regions in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
Thirty-four members were included in the new regional working committee of the Awadh region. The working committees of Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Braj, West, Kashi and Gorakhpur regions were also announced. Following the recommendation of state president Pankaj Chaudhary, a list of office-bearers appointed by the regional presidents was released.
BJP had won 255 seats out of 403, forming a second consecutive NDA government in 2022. However, it was a significant reduction in the number of seats for the party, which won 312 seats in 2017.
Reacting to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's statement, Chaudhary criticised the language being used by leaders of the opposition party against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
He said, "It is not just Akhilesh. Many leaders within his party are using such language, which is highly condemnable. Yogi Adityanath may be the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, but he is also a 'Sant,' and the way he is being portrayed in those AI videos is something the saint community will not forgive."
During a press conference, Akhilesh Yadav showed an AI-generated video featuring CM Yogi, showing him smoking and dancing in the purported video.
Akhilesh Yadav had earlier sparked a row over his “chavanni” remark targeting RLD chief and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary. Yogi accused the SP chief of insulting democracy and said his remarks reflected a mindset that disrespects political opponents and historical figures. He also criticised Akhilesh Yadav for using terms such as “dog” and “cat” for political leaders, saying such remarks had no place in democratic discourse.
Further, on CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka's meeting with Akhilesh Yadav, the UP BJP chief said he had no comment to offer while suggesting that the political alignment of CJP members was their own choice.
"Well, they are politicians, and the CJP members are aligning with a leader of their choice. They likely met, but I have no comment on that. Whether they (CJP) split into two factions or three is not for me to say," he said.
Chaudhary also hit out at the Opposition over criticism of India's economic performance as the country recorded a 7.8 per cent real GDP growth in the first quarter of FY 2026-27.
He accused the Opposition of attempting to portray the Indian economy as weak and said the GDP growth rate demonstrated the government's development efforts.
"It seems that the Opposition has made its habit to malign India on every platform the moment they wake up. They attempt to portray our economy as non-existent or failing. The GDP growth rate is holding up a mirror to them, demonstrating how the Prime Minister is enhancing the nation's prestige, driving development, and boosting the GDP," he added. (ANI)
