CBI books college trustee, faculty over alleged 10 lakh bribe offer

New Delhi [India], August 25 (ANI): The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Nobel Ayurvedic College, Junagadh trustee Pratik Mori and faculty member Abhay Nalawade for allegedly offering a Rs 10 lakh bribe to a Hearing Committee Member of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), according to the FIR.
According to an FIR, Rupali R Mahadik, Principal of Prabuddh Ayurvedic Medical College, Lucknow, was assigned as a Hearing Committee Member by the NCISM to verify 13 teachers of Nobel Ayurvedic College, Junagadh, Gujarat, who were suspected to exist only on paper.
The FIR stated that on August 18, 2026, Mahadik allegedly received a WhatsApp call from Abhay Nalawade, who offered her a bribe in return for giving a positive report in favour of the teachers.
The complainant subsequently informed Mukul Patel, President, Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Indian System of Medicine (MARBISM), NCISM, who allegedly advised her to remain in contact with the person so that he could be caught with proof, the FIR stated.
The FIR further stated that on August 20, Pratik Mori, trustee of Nobel Ayurvedic College, allegedly spoke to Mahadik and promised to pay her Rs 10 lakh for giving a positive report to clear the names of all 13 teachers.
Mahadik, who did not want to accept the bribe, submitted a handwritten complaint dated August 21 to the CBI seeking legal action against Mori and Nalawade, according to the FIR.
The FIR stated that discreet verification prima facie disclosed that Mori and Nalawade had offered and promised to pay Rs 10 lakh to the complainant for clearing the names of the 13 teachers.
During the verification, Mori allegedly promised to pay the Rs 10 lakh bribe on August 22 in Delhi, the FIR stated.
The CBI has registered the case under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, read with Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018, for alleged criminal conspiracy and bribery of a public servant. (ANI)
