Chakravarthy removes Sasikala as AIPTMMK General Secretary for inactivity

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 28 (ANI): All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK) party founder Chakravarthy on Wednesday announced the removal of Sasikala, a close friend of J Jayalalithaa, as the party’s general secretary, citing her failure to engage in party activities after the elections.
Addressing reporters at the party headquarters in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, Chakravarthy said Sasikala, who assumed charge as general secretary in 2026, had not participated in party activities since the elections. He also said he had been unable to meet her.
Chakravarthy said he had written to the Election Commission regarding the decision. The formal removal of Sasikala is expected to be ratified at the party’s general council meeting scheduled for February.
He added that the party would appoint a new general secretary soon to carry forward its activities.
Chakravarthy also said the party had adopted two resolutions condemning the Tamil Nadu government and the current administration.
Earlier this year, Sasikala announced the name of her new political party, titling it 'All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam' after being expelled from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The symbol of the party was decided to be a coconut tree farm.
Sasikala was expelled from AIADMK following her conviction in the disproportionate assets case.
AIADMK expelled leader and Jayalalitha's close aide also introduced her party flag with Black white, and Red colours with images of Anna, MGR and Jayalalitha. (ANI)
