Deendayal Port Authority crosses historic 70 MMT cargo handling milestone; becomes fastest Major Port to hit target

Kandla (Gujarat) [India], August 24 (ANI): The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has created a historic milestone by crossing the 70 MMT (Million Metric Tonnes) cargo-handling mark for the financial year 2026-27.
The port reached a total of 70.03 MMT on August 22, 2026, making it the fastest among all Major Ports in India to achieve this significant milestone.
According to official data, the DPA achieved this target 32 days ahead of the timeline recorded in the previous financial year. This feat highlights the port's increasing efficiency and its pivotal role in India's maritime trade.
The port authority also registered a massive year-on-year (YoY) growth of 23.02% compared to the same period last year.
Earlier, on July 27, Deendayal Port Authority Kandla broke its own National Record of the highest-ever single-day cargo handling, an official release said.
DPA achieved an unprecedented 7,83,816 MTs of cargo handling in a single day, surpassing its own National Record of 7,78,570 MTs achieved on June 17.
Adding to this remarkable achievement, Offshore Oil Terminal, Vadinar also established a new 24-hour benchmark by handling 5,09,101 MTs of liquid cargo, exceeding its previous record of 5,07,397 MTs. On June 17, the record handling included 2,55,557 MTs of Crude Oil, 40,534 MTs of POL, and 2,13,010 MTs of LPO.
This historic achievement reflects the unwavering dedication, teamwork, and operational excellence of Team DPA and all our stakeholders.
On this occasion, Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, DPA, congratulated all stakeholders, port users, exporters, importers, shipping lines, vessel agents, stevedores, Customs House Agents, terminal operators, trade associations, truck drivers, DPA officials, employees, Shramiks and every member of the Port fraternity whose dedicated efforts and unwavering support have made this landmark achievement possible.
