EC extends deadline for filing claims and objections to draft electoral roll claims till Oct 26: Maharashtra CM Fadnavis

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 13 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday informed that the Election Commission has extended the deadline to file claims and objections to the draft electoral roll until October 26, 2026, under the special summary revision programme.
In a post on X, Fadnavis shared the revised schedule for the electoral roll revision process and urged eligible voters to verify their details and submit applications or objections, wherever necessary, within the extended deadline.
"Extension of Deadline for Claims and Objections on the Draft Electoral Roll Until 26 October! The Election Commission has extended the deadline until 26 October 2026 for filing claims and objections on the draft electoral roll under the special summary revision program of the electoral roll," the Maharashtra CM said.
Sharing the revised schedule, the Chief Minister stated that the period for filing claims and objections would run till October 26, while the process of disposing of claims and objections would continue until November 10. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 16, 2026.
In his post, Fadnavis urged eligible voters to check their names and details in the draft electoral roll and take the necessary steps if their names had been omitted or their entries contained errors.
"What Should Eligible Voters Do? Check your name and details in the draft electoral roll. If your name has been omitted, file an application to include it; if there is an error in the entry, file for correction; or, as necessary, register an objection before 26 October 2026," he wrote.
Emphasising the importance of the revision exercise, Fadnavis said the process was intended to ensure that the electoral roll remained accurate and up to date while safeguarding the voting rights of eligible citizens.
"This process is being carried out to ensure the electoral roll remains accurate and up-to-date, and to safeguard every eligible citizen's right to vote. Therefore, eligible citizens should take advantage of this extension," the Chief Minister said in the post. (ANI)
