FIR filed against BRS leaders for allegedly misbehaving with women constables at Telangana Assembly gate

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 9 (ANI): Saifabad Police have registered a case against BRS leaders including former minister T Harish Rao, working president KT Rama Rao, and several MLAs and MLCs for allegedly misbehaving with women police personnel on bandobust duty at Gate No. 3 of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
The case has been registered under Sections 74, 75(1), 79, 121(1), 130, 132, 296, 351(2), 352 r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by Woman Constable K Padmavathi (ARWPC-10694) of CAR Headquarters on Tuesday.
As per the complaint, on Monday, during the Assembly session, the complainant, along with other women police personnel, was deployed at Gate No. 3 to check persons entering the premises. At that time, MLAs T Harish Rao, KT Rama Rao, D Sudheer Reddy, KP Vivekanand, Gangula Kamalakar, Padi Kaushik Reddy, MLC Naveen Reddy, and others came to the gate wearing black T-shirts with the slogan "Congress has failed to implement its promises."
When police informed them that persons wearing T-shirts with political slogans and carrying placards were not permitted inside and requested cooperation, the leaders allegedly abused them.
The complaint states that Harish Rao shouted, "Are you doing cheap politics by using lady constables as a shield?" while KTR allegedly said, "Who is doing Shikhandi politics by using women as a shield? Who is the local DCP here?" — remarks which the complainant said were intended to insult and intimidate them.
It is further alleged that Harish Rao then removed his T-shirt and threw it towards a police officer and stood semi-naked in front of the women constables. Following him, MLC Naveen Reddy, MLA Sudheer Reddy, and others also removed their T-shirts and stood semi-naked very close to the women personnel, causing extreme discomfort and embarrassment.
The FIR mentions that MLC Naveen Kumar Reddy allegedly shouted in an aggressive manner, "Where do they keep the women police?"
The complainant alleged that the leaders forcibly tried to enter the Assembly by pushing and jostling the women constables and pushing against their chests. She also alleged they threatened the staff, saying, "They will see what happens to you once they come to power tomorrow," to prevent them from lodging a complaint.
She stated that due to the incident, she, along with SI Triveni and women constables Rashmi Yadav and Soumya, suffered physical and mental distress and were admitted to Gleneagles Hospital for treatment. She said she has been experiencing chest pain since last night.
The complainant has enclosed photographs, screenshots, and video footage from media cameras at the spot and requested that CCTV footage, media recordings, and medical records be examined. (ANI)
