New Delhi [India], August 23 (ANI): A Foreign Media Delegation comprising 38 journalists from 11 countries visited the Indian Army's Shatrujeet Brigade to witness the force's advanced Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) capabilities, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) said on Saturday.
Sharing details on X, ADG PI - Indian Army said the delegation was briefed on HADR operations carried out by the Indian Army in friendly foreign countries, including the recently conducted Operation Amistad in Venezuela and Operation Sagar Bandhu in Sri Lanka.

The visit highlighted India's growing humanitarian outreach and the armed forces' ability to provide emergency assistance during crises across borders.
Under Operation Amistad, launched in June-July 2026 following twin earthquakes in Venezuela, India deployed an Indian Army medical contingent along with humanitarian aid. Two Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft were utilised to transport a 41-member medical team and advanced medical facilities, including the BHISHM Cube, to the affected region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier appreciated the efforts of Indian medical personnel involved in Operation Amistad, describing their service during challenging conditions as an example of dedication and compassion during times of adversity.
The operation marked a significant expansion of India's HADR footprint beyond the Indian Ocean Region, demonstrating the rapid-response capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.
Earlier, under Operation Sagar Bandhu following Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka, Indian Navy ships, IAF aircraft and helicopters, Army engineers and medical teams were deployed for rescue and relief operations. The mission included evacuation efforts, delivery of relief supplies and medical assistance to affected communities. (ANI)
