Former employee among two held with juvenile for allegedly extorting Rs 10 lakh from Rohini resident

New Delhi [India], September 2 (ANI): Delhi Police have apprehended two persons, including an alleged former employee of the complainant, along with a juvenile in connection with an extortion case in which a Rohini resident was allegedly threatened with harm to him and his family and Rs 10 lakh was demanded.
According to police, the complainant, Vikas Tayal, a resident of Sector-23, Rohini, received repeated threatening calls between August 29 and 31.
The caller allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh and claimed to be associated with the Neeraj Bawania gang.
Following a preliminary enquiry, police registered an FIR under Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Begumpur Police Station.
Acting on the complaint, a joint team of Begumpur Police Station and Special Staff, Rohini District, laid a trap near Rithala Metro Station. The accused were allegedly called to the spot on the pretext of collecting the extortion money.
During the operation, two persons who arrived on a motorcycle were apprehended. A 15-year-old juvenile allegedly involved in the case was subsequently apprehended, police said.
The accused have been identified as Suraj, a former employee of the complainant's company and the alleged main conspirator, and Kishan. The identity of the juvenile has been withheld.
Police said Suraj allegedly planned the extortion after accumulating a debt of around Rs 5 lakh through online gaming and gambling.
During the investigation, police also found that Suraj and Kishan allegedly snatched a mobile phone in the Bawana area and used it in connection with the extortion offence.
Police have recovered a motorcycle, two mobile phones and two stolen SIM cards from the accused.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the roles of all participants, examine digital and call-detail records, trace the source of the stolen SIM cards and establish the complete sequence of events, police said. (ANI)
