Patna (Bihar) [India], September 29 (ANI): Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav said that his party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), will take part in the INDIA bloc’s meeting scheduled to be held on September 30 over alleged electoral irregularities.
Speaking to the media, Yadav alleged that the Election Commission’s role has been exposed, which he said helped the Bharatiya Janata Party to win election after election.
"The Election Commission's role has been exposed to the public, specifically, how vote theft was allegedly being orchestrated and how the BJP was being made to win election after election. They initiated this practice in Bihar and subsequently implemented it across the country. The method of vote theft has been exposed by two Election Commissioners themselves,” he said.
The political row intensified following an investigative report by The Indian Express, which said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections at least 14 times over 10 months regarding decisions and procedures linked to the SIR exercise.
Further, Tejashwi Yadav reiterated the Opposition’s demand that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar be arrested.
“A meeting of the INDIA Alliance has been convened for tomorrow at 11:00 AM at the Constitution Club. We are going there to attend this meeting and present our views. If anyone can simply come along and orchestrate vote theft, ruining and destroying democracy and dismantling constitutional institutions, then how will the country function? It has been our demand from the very beginning, and many other leaders have made the same demand, that Gyanesh Kumar should be arrested,” he said.
Sharpening his attacks, Yadav said, “The BJP is destroying and misusing institutions. Therefore, the people of the country need to remove the BJP from power..."
Earlier today, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Delhi to attend the INDIA Bloc meeting.
Speaking to the media, Mamata clarified that the opposition target is the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who she said has cheated the public.
"We have come here for the INDIA bloc meeting...Our target is the Chief Election Commissioner and his entire software team, who cheated the public...We have been calling him 'Vanish Kumar' (CEC Gyanesh Kumar),” she said.
The INDIA bloc meeting is scheduled to be held in Delhi on Wednesday, where opposition leaders are likely to deliberate on a proposed nationwide protest over allegations of electoral irregularities. (ANI)
