Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 29 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey and visited relief camps in Kushinagar on Tuesday to review rescue operations following severe flooding triggered by a breach in the Narayani River embankment.
The Chief Minister interacted with displaced families and distributed essential relief kits, including food staples such as rice, flour, lentils, and potatoes, to those housed on higher ground.
Addressing the ground situation, CM Adityanath noted that four consecutive days of torrential downpours have induced widespread challenges across the region.
"Following four days of continuous torrential rain, various regions of the state and the country have faced a severe calamity. Water has entered many homes here. Two NDRF teams and two SDRF teams have been deployed for rescue and relief operations. In this hour of crisis, the BJP government stands with all of you who have been affected. Assistance to the affected families has already begun; we have provided 10 kg of rice, flour, and potatoes, as well as 2 kg of lentils, among other items," Yogi Adityanath said.
The remarks came after CM Yogi ordered the immediate evacuation of residents to safer areas after a breach in the Narayani River's AP embankment sent floodwaters surging toward nearby villages in Kushinagar.
Later in Gorakhpur, while addressing a commemorative event marking the 57th death anniversary of Mahant Digvijay Nath, the Chief Minister reflected on the historical establishment of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad during the British Raj.
Contrasting individual foresight with societal vision, Adityanath highlighted the institutional milestones achieved despite severe resource constraints in 1932.
"When we reflect on the fact that about 94 or 95 years ago—at a time when the country was under colonial rule and means and resources were scarce—he established the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in Gorakhpur... This is the difference between an ordinary person and a great soul: the ordinary person thinks of himself and worries about his own way of life—or, at most, his family. But look at the vision of great souls; back in 1932, despite the lack of means and resources, he planted the seed of education," he said.
Mahant Digvijaynath, remembered as a “Yugpurush,” served as the Peethadheeshwar of the renowned Goraksha Peeth of the Nath tradition from 1935 to 1969. His ideals and work continue to guide future generations. He was the architect of Gorakhnath Temple and dedicated his life to public welfare through service to the nation, religion, spirituality, and culture.

Following a high-level meeting with the Gorakhpur Commissioner, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), and Kushinagar District Magistrate, administration, police, and disaster management teams engaged in relief and rescue operations upon Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directives.
Subsequently, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were directed to reach the site and conduct large-scale rescue operations in the area.
Additionally, the Chief Minister directed officials to provide immediate relief to all impacted residents. (ANI)
