Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 12 (ANI): In a major political jolt to the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction, Shiv Sena (UBT) national spokesperson Anand Dubey resigned from the party’s primary membership on Monday.
For years, he had been the vocal shield of the party, defending its policies across local, national, and international media. But today, the defence was over. With a heavy heart and a resolute voice, he announced his immediate exit:
"I am resigning from my party known as Shiv Sena (UBT). I am completely dissociating myself from both my primary membership and the position of national spokesperson," he said.
Explaining the gravity of his choice, Dubey revealed that this was not an impulse, but the culmination of a long, internal struggle. For years, he had carried the weight of a shifting political alignment in silence.
"For the past four or five years, I consistently articulated the party's stance on issues ranging from Maharashtra-specific matters to national and even international affairs. So, what changed? Nothing happens overnight. For several months, I had been suffering in silence, feeling deeply distressed..."
The core of Dubey's distress pointed directly to an ideological erosion within the organisation. As someone deeply rooted in traditional cultural nationalism, he felt the party was drifting away from the foundational values he swore to uphold:
"I find myself unable to voice the very ideals of Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma that I hold so dear."
Elaborating on his personal philosophy, Dubey drew a sharp line between his own historical inspirations and what he perceived as a drift in the party's modern alignment. He emphasised that an activist's compass must remain true to historical icons of resistance and righteousness:
"Every party has an ideology. I am a party worker who believes in Veer Savarkar and follows the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. I am an activist who looks up to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as my role models. Somehow, the line I am supposed to deliver just doesn't sit right with me..."
The breaking point, however, crystallised around contemporary figures and recent events. Dubey drew a stark contrast between those celebrated by modern political circles and those who represent true grit, patriotism, and faith in times of crisis.
"My heroes are not Sharjeel Imam or Umar Khalid; my hero is not Dhruv Rathee," said Dubey
Instead, Dubey pointed to contemporary acts of raw courage and devotion that he felt went ignored by his former colleagues for political convenience.
"My hero is Smit Machchhar, the man who demonstrated to the entire world, not just India, the immense power of Bajrangbali. Yet, not a single tweet came from our party," he added.
With those final words, Dubey closed the chapter on his tenure with Shiv Sena (UBT), leaving behind a political landscape shaken by questions of ideology, loyalty, and the true meaning of putting the nation first.
Dismissing the opposition's claims regarding electoral malpractice, Dubey added: "They claim that votes were stolen... Votes are not being stolen; it is the minds of some people that have been stolen." (ANI)
