Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 9 (ANI): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M K Stalin on Friday attacked Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay following the by-election results in Dharapuram and Madurantakam, alleging misuse of government machinery, money power and violations of election rules.
According to the Election Commission, TVK candidate P Sathyabama won the Dharapuram Assembly constituency by-election with 66,841 votes. In Madurantakam, TVK candidate K Maragatham Kumaravel was leading by 73,152 votes after the 23rd round of counting on Friday.
In a post on X, Stalin thanked voters who supported candidates of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and party workers who campaigned in the two constituencies. He described the by-elections as a consequence of two legislators resigning shortly after the Assembly elections and subsequently joining the ruling party.
“Interim victory for betrayal. The downfall of fake image politics has begun. To all the great voters who cast their ballots for the candidates of the secular progressive alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the recently concluded Maduranthakam and Dharapuram by-elections, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. I also express my thanks to all the party workers, leaders, comrades, and alliance party heads who toiled tirelessly and with utmost rigor in both constituencies," he said.
“This by-election was imposed just five months after the assembly elections concluded. Before the ink from the votes could even dry, the people's will was crushed as two assembly members resigned from their posts, only to join the ruling party the very next moment. It was a blatant democratic murder. That's why this by-election took place. The ruling party fielded the very two who had defected as candidates and faced the election,” he added.
துரோகத்துக்குக் கிடைத்த இடைக்கால வெற்றி பொய் பிம்ப அரசியலின் வீழ்ச்சி தொடங்கிவிட்டது! நடந்து முடிந்த மதுராந்தகம், தாராபுரம் இடைத்தேர்தலில் திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழகம் தலைமையிலான மதச்சார்பற்ற முற்போக்குக் கூட்டணி வேட்பாளர்களுக்கு வாக்களித்த வாக்காளப் பெருமக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். இரண்டு தொகுதியிலும் மிகக்கடுமையாகத் தேர்தல் பணியாற்றிய தொண்டர்கள், முன்னணியினர், உடன்பிறப்புகள், கூட்டணிக் கட்சியின் தலைவர்கள் ஆகிய அனைவருக்கும் எனது நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தல் முடிந்த ஐந்தே மாதத்தில் திணிக்கப்பட்டதுதான் இந்த இடைத்தேர்தல். வாக்களித்த மை அழிவதற்கு முன்னால் மக்களின் விருப்பத்தை அழித்துவிட்டு இரண்டு சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் தங்கள் பதவியை விட்டு விலகி, அடுத்த நிமிடமே ஆளும் கட்சியில் சேர்ந்தார்கள். அப்பட்டமான ஜனநாயகப் படுகொலை நடந்தது. அதனால்தான் இந்த இடைத்தேர்தல் நடந்தது. பதவி விலகிய இருவரையே வேட்பாளர்களாக அறிவித்து, தேர்தலைச் சந்தித்தது ஆளும்கட்சி. அதிகார பலம், ஆட்சி பலம், பணபலம், போலீஸ் பலம் ஆகியவற்றைப் பக்கபலமாக வைத்து த.வெ.க. இந்தத் தேர்தலை எதிர்கொண்டது. சினிமா கவர்ச்சி பலத்தை மட்டுமே நம்பி அரசியல் களத்தில் குதித்து - பெரும்பான்மை பலம் இல்லாவிட்டாலும் குதிரை பேரங்களின் மூலமாக முதலமைச்சர் ஆகியுள்ள விஜய், இந்த இடைத்தேர்தலிலும் ரீல்ஸ் காட்சிகளே கைகொடுக்கும் என்று நம்பினார். டீ குடித்தார், டிராக்டர் ஓட்டினார், முருங்கைக்காய் பறித்தார், தெருத்தெருவாகப் போனார். எந்தவொரு இடைத்தேர்தலுக்கும், ஒரு முதலமைச்சர் பதவியில் இருப்பவர் இப்படித் தெருத்தெருவாகப் போனது இல்லை. இந்த இரண்டு தொகுதியில் வெற்றி பெற்றால்தான் தனக்கு இனி அரசியல் வாழ்க்கை என்ற முடிவோடு செயல்பட்டார். நான்கு நாட்கள் இரண்டு தொகுதியிலும் இருந்துள்ளார் முதலமைச்சர். வெளியூரில் இருந்து இறக்கிவிடப்பட்ட ஆட்கள், அவர் போகும் சாலைகள் அனைத்தும் வைக்கப்பட்ட பேரிகேட், கொடுக்கப்பட்ட அன்பளிப்புகள், அமைச்சர்களுக்கு மட்டும் எவ்வளவு செலவு செய்துள்ளேன் என்று ஆளும்கட்சி வேட்பாளரே அளித்த வாக்குமூலங்கள் இவை அனைத்தையும் வைத்துப் பார்க்கும்போது இந்த வெற்றியை அடைய த.வெ.க. எவ்வளவு பதற்றத்தில் இருந்துள்ளது என்பதை அறிய முடிகிறது. ஐந்து நிமிடம் பேசினாலே கொத்து புரோட்டா போட்டுவிடுவார் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டவரை நான்கு நாட்கள் கொளுத்தும் வெயிலில் அலைய வைத்துக் கொத்து புரோட்டா போட்டுவிட்டார்கள் மக்கள். கட்சி, தேர்தல், மக்கள் பணிகள் என்றால் என்னவென்று முதலமைச்சர் விஜய் இனியாவது உணர்ந்து செயல்பட வேண்டும். தேர்தல் தேதி அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட பிறகுதான் மகளிருக்குக் கட்டணமில்லாப் பயண விரிவாக்கம், தாய்மாமன் தங்கமோதிரம், அண்ணன் சீர் போன்ற திட்டங்களை அவர் அறிவித்தார். இதுவே தேர்தல் நடத்தை விதிகளை மீறியதுதான். இப்படி பல்வேறு விதிமீறல்களைச் செய்தே இந்த முடிவை த.வெ.க. பெற்றுள்ளது. என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரையில் துரோகத்துக்கு இடைக்கால வெற்றி கிடைத்துள்ளது. அதே நேரத்தில் பொய் பிம்ப அரசியலின் வீழ்ச்சி தொடங்கிவிட்டது! ஜி.பே.யில் பணம் - பரிசுப் பொருட்கள் கொடுத்தார்கள். ஊரையே விலை பேசினார்கள் என்பதை இந்த ஆட்சியை ஆதரிக்கும் கட்சிகளே ஒப்புக்கொண்டு பேட்டி கொடுத்த காட்சிகளையும் நாம் பார்த்தோம். தேர்தலுக்கு முந்தைய இரவு வெளியான வீடியோவில் கோடிகளைக் கொட்டிச் செலவிட்டதை வேட்பாளரே ஒப்புக்கொள்ளும் காட்சிகளையும் பார்த்தோம். தூய சக்தியின் வேடத்தை இது அம்பலப்படுத்தியது. திரைமறைவில், இன்னும் சில கட்சிகளின் வாக்குகளை வாங்கப் பொய்ச்செய்தியைப் பரப்பினார்கள். ஒட்டுமொத்த அமைச்சரவையும் இரு தொகுதிகளுக்குள் மூன்று வார காலம் முடங்கியது. துரோகம் செய்த வேட்பாளர்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்த மக்கள் காவல்துறையினரைக் கொண்டு மிரட்டப்பட்டார்கள். 17 வயது இளைஞரைக் கூட கைது செய்தார்கள். 'சூரியனுக்கு வாக்களிக்கச் சொன்னால் விசிலுக்கு அழுத்தச் சொன்னார்கள்' என்று ஒரு மூதாட்டி வெளிப்படையாகப் பேட்டியே அளித்தார். இப்படி, தன் அதிகார பலம் முழுவதையும் இடைத்தேர்தலுக்காகத் தவறாகப் பயன்படுத்தியது த.வெ.க. அரசு. 5 நிமிடப் பேச்சிலேயே அனைத்தையும் விஜய் மாற்றிவிடுவார் எனக் கட்டமைக்கப்பட்ட போலி பிம்பம் நான்கே மாதங்களில் கிழிந்து தொங்கிவிட்டது. ஆட்சிக்கு வந்த இத்தனை குறுகிய காலத்தில் இப்படி ஒரு சரிவு எந்த முதலமைச்சருக்கும் இதுவரை ஏற்பட்டதில்லை. கல்லாப்பெட்டிக் கூட்டணிக் கட்சிகள் என விமர்சித்த கட்சிகளையே, இப்போது தன்னோடு இணைத்துக்கொண்டு தேர்தலைச் சந்தித்த நிலையிலும், அனைத்தையும் மீறி, ‘எப்படியாவது வெற்றி பெற்றால் போதும்’ என்ற மனநிலைக்கு அவர்களைத் தள்ளும் வகையில்தான் இடைத்தேர்தல் முடிவுகள் அமைந்துள்ளன. என்ன செய்தும், தி.மு.க. மீதான மக்களின் நம்பிக்கையை எதுவும் செய்ய முடியவில்லை. தி.மு.க.வை மட்டுமே குறிவைத்துப் பேசினார் முதலமைச்சர். ஆனால், தி.மு.க.வின் செல்வாக்கை அவரால் அசைக்க முடியவில்லை. இதில் மிகவும் முக்கியமானது, துர்நாற்றமெடுக்கும் துரோக சக்தியான த.வெ.க.வுக்கு எதிராகக் களம் கண்ட அனைத்துக் கட்சிகள் பெற்ற வாக்குகளும் ஆட்சிக்கு எதிரான வாக்குகள் என்பதுதான்! அவைதான் பெரும்பான்மை! இந்த அரசு மீண்டும் பெரும்பான்மை மக்களால் நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. குதிரை பேரம், எம்.எல்.ஏ. ஷாப்பிங், பழிவாங்கும் நடவடிக்கைகள், அருவருப்பான பேச்சுகள், அசிங்கமான சைகைகள், ரீல்ஸ் எடுப்பதில் மட்டும் கவனம் ஆகியவற்றைத் தவிர்த்துவிட்டு இனியாவது மக்கள் பணிகளில் ஆட்சியாளர்கள் கவனம் செலுத்த வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறேன். தேர்தல் வெற்றி தோல்விகளைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப்படாமல் கொள்கை - இலக்கு என பயணிக்கும் உடன்பிறப்புகள் அனைவருக்கும் எனது மனமார்ந்த நன்றியை மீண்டும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். களத்தில் கடும் போட்டியைக் கொடுத்து, ஆளும்கட்சியினரை அச்சத்தில் அலையவிட்ட கழக உடன்பிறப்புகளுக்கு நன்றியும் பாராட்டுகளும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். தோளோடு தோள் நின்று உழைத்த அனைத்துக் கூட்டணிக் கட்சிகளின் தலைவர்கள், நிர்வாகிகள், தோழர்களுக்கும் எனது நெஞ்சார்ந்த நன்றிகள்! சினிமா கவர்ச்சியை மூலதனமாகக் கொண்டு, அதன் மூலமாக மக்களை ஏமாற்றி அதிகாரத்துக்கு வந்து கார்ப்பரேட் மாஃபியாக்கள் சிலரின் கைப்பாவையாக ஆட்சி நடத்தி வரும் முதலமைச்சர் விஜய்யின் முகத்திரையைக் கிழிக்கும் பரப்புரைப் பயணத்தை நாம் தினம்தோறும் தொய்வின்றித் தொடர்வோம். தமிழ்நாட்டுக்கு விரோதமான சக்திகளின் பிடியில் அவர் சிக்கி இருக்கிறார். அதை மக்கள் விரைவில் முழுமையாக உணர்வார்கள்.

Stalin alleged that the TVK used the power of the government, financial resources and police force during the campaign. He also criticised Vijay's door-to-door campaigning and accused him of relying on his cinematic image.
“Armed with the might of authority, governmental power, financial clout, and police force, the TVK confronted this election. Relying solely on cinematic charisma, Vijay—who became Chief Minister through horse-trading despite lacking a majority—believed that reels alone would carry him through this by-election too. He sipped tea, drove a tractor, plucked drumsticks, roamed street to street. Never before has a sitting Chief Minister gone door-to-door like this for any by-election. He acted with the conviction that victory in these two seats was essential for his political survival," said the former CM.
He further said, “The Chief Minister spent four days across both constituencies. When you consider the crowds airlifted from out of town, the barricades along every road he traveled, the handouts distributed, and the affidavits from the ruling party's own candidate boasting about expenses lavished on ministers, it's clear just how desperate the TVK was for this win. They mocked him as someone who'd toss out a bunch of parottas after just five minutes of speaking, but the people made him wander in the scorching heat for four days and then tossed parottas right back at him. At long last, Chief Minister Vijay must realize what party work, elections, and public service truly entail—and act accordingly.”
The DMK chief further alleged that the TVK announced welfare schemes after the election schedule was declared, in violation of election conduct rules.
“It was only after the election date was announced that he unveiled schemes like free travel expansion for women, Thaimaaman Thangamothiram, and Anna Seer. This itself violated election conduct rules. Through such repeated violations, the TVK has arrived at this outcome. As far as I'm concerned, betrayal has secured an interim victory. At the same time, the downfall of fake image politics has begun."
“In the G.B., they handed out money and prize goods. We saw supporting parties themselves admit in interviews that they haggled over the entire town. We witnessed videos surfacing the night before the election, with the candidate confessing to splashing crores. This exposed the so-called pure power for what it is. Behind the scenes, they spread fake news to buy votes from a few more parties,” Stalin said.
He also accused the ruling party of using intimidation and police action against its political opponents during the bypolls, alleging that government employees were pressured to support the TVK.
“The entire cabinet was paralyzed within the two constituencies for three weeks. People voicing opposition to the defecting candidates were intimidated by the police. They even arrested a 17-year-old youth. They were driven to the point of block-level threats: "If you don't vote for the ruling party, we won't do a thing for this constituency." Government employees were coerced and threatened during polling to work in their favor. An elderly woman openly told the press: "If they told me to vote for the sun, they made me press the whistle." In this way, the TVK government misused its full authority for the by-election,” Stalin added.
Questioning Vijay's political image and the performance of his government, Stalin claimed that the bypoll results exposed the limits of the TVK chief's popularity.
“The fabricated image built around Vijay—that he'd fix everything in a five-minute speech—tore apart and dangled in tatters after just four months. No Chief Minister has faced such a steep decline in so short a time since taking office. The very parties he once derided as "collapsible alliance ragtag outfits" are now the ones he roped in to face the election with him. Yet, defying all that, the by-election results reflect a mindset of "win by any means necessary," pushing them into that corner.No matter what they do, nothing can shake the people's faith in the DMK. The Chief Minister targeted only the DMK in his rhetoric. But he couldn't budge the DMK's influence. Most crucially, the votes garnered by all parties that took the field against the stinking betrayal force TVK are votes against the government! Those are the majority! This government has once again been rejected by the majority of the people,” the DMK chief said.
Stalin urged the ruling party to focus on governance rather than political defections and personal attacks, while thanking DMK workers and alliance leaders for their efforts.
“I urge those in power to set aside horse-trading, MLA shopping, vengeful actions, repulsive speeches, indecent gestures, and obsessing over reels—and finally focus on the people's work. To all my comrades who journey on with policy and ideals, unswayed by electoral wins or losses, I once again extend my heartfelt gratitude. To the Kazhagam comrades who gave the ruling party a fierce fight in the field, leaving them trembling in fear, I offer my thanks and praise. To the leaders, officials, and comrades of all alliance parties who stood shoulder-to-shoulder and labored tirelessly—my deepest thanks from the heart," he said.
Satlin further added, “We will relentlessly continue, day after day, our campaign to tear down the mask of Chief Minister Vijay, who rode cinematic allure to power, duped the people, and now puppets for a handful of corporate mafias in running the government. He is ensnared by forces hostile to Tamil Nadu. The people will soon fully awaken to it.” (ANI)
