Manipur CM distributes PMFME subsidies to 2,835 beneficiaries on PM Modi's birthday

Imphal (Manipur) [India], September 17 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh distributed subsidies to 2,835 eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme at Yumnam Leikai Yumjao Lairembi Lampak, Imphal, this morning, in connection with the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as per the release.
Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister said that the initiative would significantly help small and unorganised food-processing businesses upgrade, grow and enter the formal economy in the State. He recalled the Prime Minister’s 25 years of dedicated public service, stating that Narendra Modi has been serving the country without taking a day off.
The Chief Minister stated that the funds under the scheme had already been released by the Centre earlier, while the Area Level Federation subsequently decided to disburse the assistance to the beneficiaries. Cheques were handed over to some beneficiaries today, while the remaining beneficiaries received their subsidy through Direct Benefit Transfer in their respective accounts.
Under the PMFME scheme, the Area Level Federation had received financial assistance, following which Rs 5,000 was provided as the first instalment to each SHG member engaged in food-processing activities. SHGs had applied under the scheme during the period from 2022 to 2024.
Further, the Chief Minister said that Manipur had traditionally been a peaceful State, but the unprecedented crisis had adversely affected the situation. He observed that peace and normalcy have gradually started returning, citing the resumption of road travel through Kangpokpi as one of the positive developments.
He also noted that people from different communities have begun to rekindle bonds of friendship and understanding.
The Chief Minister once again appealed to all citizens to refrain from bandhs and blockades and extend cooperation towards restoring lasting peace and normalcy in the State.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was born in 1950 to Hiraba and Damodardas Modi in Vadnagar in Gujarat's Mehsana district. On May 26, 2014, he took the oath as the Prime Minister of India, becoming the first Prime Minister to be born after India attained Independence. (ANI)
