New Delhi [India], September 29 (ANI): Ministry of Tourism gears up for the implementation of Special Campaign 6.0, being undertaken by the Government of India from October 2 to October 31, with a focus on Swachhata and reducing pendency across Government.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, this year, the Government-wide Campaign will also place special emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.
As part of Special Campaign 6.0, the Government of India has laid particular emphasis on field and outstation offices providing public services, in addition to Ministries/Departments, their attached and subordinate offices, Autonomous Bodies and Public Sector Undertakings. The Campaign is being conducted in two phases, a Preparatory Phase from September 15 to September 30, 2026, followed by the Implementation Phase from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
In line with the Campaign framework, the Ministry of Tourism convened a preparatory meeting on September 16, 2026, with its Programme Divisions, Institutes and Domestic Offices to identify targets for implementation.
The preparatory activities include mobilising offices, officers and ground functionaries; identifying pending references and cleanliness campaign sites; assessing redundant material for disposal; planning for efficient space management; disposal of scrap; record management; and identifying measures for effective collection and segregation of e-waste.
The Ministry had recorded significant outcomes during Special Campaign 5.0, with 92,749 sq. ft. of space freed and ₹12.69 lakh earned through scrap disposal. In addition, 4,700 physical files were weeded out and 1,100 electronic files were closed. A total of 413 Swachhata Campaign programmes were conducted across the country.
Building on the achievements of the previous campaign, the Ministry of Tourism remains committed to the successful implementation of Special Campaign 6.0 and to further strengthening cleanliness, efficient record management and reduction of pendency across its offices.
Earlier, the Ministry of Tourism and Airbnb on September 28 signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen India's homestay ecosystem and expand tourism beyond traditional hotspots, with the partnership focusing on host training, digital onboarding and destination promotion.
The collaboration will include host workshops and training resources covering listing creation, pricing, platform tools and hospitality practices, while Airbnb will also support the digital onboarding of homestay owners onto its platform. (ANI)
