MP: Over 30 lakh diyas to be lit during mass lighting programme under Seva Sankalp Campaign in Ujjain

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 17 (ANI): Ujjain is all set to witness a grand mass-lamp lighting along the ghats of the Shipra River on Thursday evening as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ being organised on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Speaking to ANI, Ujjain district collector Raushan Kumar Singh informed that over 30 lakh lamps would be lit with the participation of more than 30,000 volunteers this evening. The programme is scheduled to begin at around 7 pm and will witness the participation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other dignitaries (including BJP national president Nitin Nabin).
“A grand Deepotsav programme will be organised on the ghats of the Kshipra River at around 7 pm this evening. More than 30 lakh lamps have been placed, and over 30,000 volunteers will participate in it. The best part is that it will be a very good example of social participation and public involvement. The Chief Minister will be present along with other dignitaries. The grand programme will begin with the lighting of the lamps,” Collector Singh said.
The Collector also emphasised that the evening would also feature a series of cultural programmes, including devotional music and fusion performances.
“There will also be cultural programmes, including bhajan jamming, which is quite popular among the youth these days. There will be a performance dedicated to Lord Mahakal featuring fusion art forms, followed by a singing programme. After that a narration on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Seva Sankalp' will be presented, and finally, there will be a grand fireworks programme,” the Collector said.
Additionally, the Collector also appealed to citizens to participate in the celebrations in whatever way possible.
Under the ‘Seva Sankalp Campaign’, the Deepotsav will be organised across eight sectors in the district, comprising six ghats along the Kshipra river, Mahakal Lok and Kartik Mela Ground. The event aims to light more than 30 lakh lamps. The eight sectors have further been divided into 13,500 blocks, with 225 lamps arranged in each block, and volunteers have been entrusted with the responsibility of lighting them. (ANI)
