New Delhi [India], August 23 (ANI): Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will lead a 200-member business delegation to Japan from August 24 to 27, which will be India's largest-ever business delegation to the country.
According to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry the four-day visit covers Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, and the delegation includes representatives across key sectors such as manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare, and start-ups.
The release stated that the visit reflects the scale of ambition the two countries bring to their bilateral relationship.
"The visit reflects the scale of ambition both nations bring to their Special Strategic and Global Partnership, and comes at a time when India and Japan are looking to significantly deepen trade and investment ties," it said.
In Tokyo, Goyal will hold a series of meetings with top executives of major Japanese industrial conglomerates. His itinerary includes a round-table with Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), an apex body representing more than 1,500 Japanese enterprises.
Dedicated sessions in the capital will focus on key emerging areas, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, start-ups, and discussions with foreign institutional investors.
During the Tokyo leg, Goyal will also hold bilateral discussions with Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Akazawa Ryosei. He will call on senior members of the Japanese Government and Parliament, alongside interacting with the Indian diaspora.
The delegation will then travel to Nagoya, the industrial hub of Central Japan. In Nagoya, the Minister will lead a business roadshow organized with the Central Japan Economic Federation (Chukeiren) and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Engagements in Nagoya also include meetings with the leadership of Aichi Prefecture and major manufacturing investors from the automotive and steel sectors.
The tour will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow, accompanied by meetings with leading Japanese corporations across the electronics, industrial, and consumer markets.
The Ministry noted that Japan remains a key long-term partner in technology, industrial collaboration, and capital inflows across Indian infrastructure, steel, and automotive domains.
"This visit, backed by an unprecedented business delegation of more than 200 representatives cutting across sectors, is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment ties," the release stated.
The engagements in high-technology manufacturing and next-generation industries remain central to India's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047. (ANI)
