Rajasthan: Ashok Gehlot calls for thorough probe into deaths of labourers due to electrocution in Jhunjhunu

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], November 2 (ANI): Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday expressed grief over the deaths of several labourers due to electrocution in Chhapoli village of Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu district and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
In a post on X, Gehlot said it was essential to investigate how the accident occurred during road construction and determine who was responsible for the deaths.
“The tragic and heart-wrenching deaths of several laborers due to electrocution in Chhapoli, Udaipurwati, Jhunjhunu, are extremely sorrowful and poignant. A thorough investigation of this entire incident is essential to determine how this accident occurred during road construction and who is responsible for these deaths,” he wrote.

The government must ensure that appropriate compensation and every possible assistance is provided to the families of the deceased,” he further wrote.
Gehlot prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to endure the loss.
“May God grant place to the departed souls at His divine feet and bestow strength upon the bereaved families to endure this unbearable sorrow,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each person who lost their life in the accident, while the injured will receive Rs 50,000 each.
