New Delhi [India], September 20 (ANI): In a major development in the death of 31-year-old real estate professional Yuvraj Singh Manchanda, his sister, who is also the complainant/informant in the Delhi FIR, moved the Saket court seeking preservation and production of the complete records relating to the recovery, identification and cremation of an unidentified body in Badshahpur, Gurugram, which was later identified as that of Yuvraj.
Acting on the application filed under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the Saket court has directed the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, to preserve and produce the complete police, forensic, medical, digital and electronic records concerning the unidentified body.
The court has directed that the records be produced before the concerned court on September 22, 2026, at 12:30 PM, and thereafter handed over to the Investigating Officer of the Delhi FIR for further investigation.
The application was moved by Manchanda's sister, in connection with FIR registered at Lajpat Nagar Police Station. The application sought urgent directions for production and preservation of records, articles, electronic/digital material and other material stated to be in the custody or possession of police officials of PS Badshahpur, Gurugram.
Senior Advocate Amit Prasad, along with advocates Rajat Jain, Niharika Kushwaha, Ayodhya Prasad and Devanshi Pokhriyal, appeared for the applicant/complainant.
The court, after hearing the submissions, directed production of the entire trail relating to the unidentified body, including police diary entries, recovery and inquest records, post-mortem and forensic material, DNA records, photographs and videos, digital evidence, ZIPNET records, cremation documents and records of belongings recovered from the body.
The order records that Yuvraj’s sister had initially lodged the missing-person FIR and that Gurugram Police subsequently recovered an unidentified body from the jurisdiction of Badshahpur Police Station, which was later identified as the body of Yuvraj Singh Manchanda.
The application specifically sought preservation and production of the complete police trail concerning the unidentified body, including all DD/GD/Roznamcha entries, PCR/112 information, complaints and other contemporaneous records relating to its discovery and recovery.
The court has also called for the recovery memo, site plan, crime-scene inspection record, photographs and videography of the recovery location and the body, besides the complete inquest proceedings under Section 194 BNSS, including the intimation to the Executive Magistrate, inquest report, statements recorded during the proceedings and records relating to forwarding of the report to the competent District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
The court has also sought the complete medical, forensic and digital trail, including the post-mortem and medico-legal records, mortuary documents, records concerning preservation and release of the body, and details of collection and forwarding of blood, tissue, viscera and biological/DNA samples.
It has directed the production of photographs, videos and other electronic files in their available original/native form, along with metadata and system-generated details. Significantly, the court has specifically sought the complete ZIPNET record, including photographs and information uploaded, dates and times of upload, system-generated timestamps and details of any subsequent addition, alteration or modification.
It has also called for records showing the steps taken by Badshahpur Police to establish the identity of the body through ZIPNET, wireless messages and other police communication systems. (ANI)
