Hubballi (Karnataka) [India], October 30 (ANI): Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai has expressed deep grief over the demise of veteran political statesman, former minister, MP, and President of the KLE Society, Shivanand Koujalagi.
He stated that the state has lost an experienced mentor.
In a post shared on X, Bommai noted that Koujalagi left a distinct mark on both political and educational spheres in public life, dedicating his entire life to public service and educational advancement.
“Serving three terms as an MLA from the Bailhongal assembly constituency and as an MP from the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency in 1996, he dedicated himself to public service. As the state's Public Works Minister, he placed special emphasis on the comprehensive development of Karnataka, with his contributions to roads, infrastructure, and rural development in North Karnataka being particularly significant,” the post said.
ಹಿರಿಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಮುತ್ಸದ್ದಿ, ಮಾಜಿ ಸಚಿವರು, ಮಾಜಿ ಸಂಸದರು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆ.ಎಲ್.ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವಾನಂದ ಕೌಜಲಗಿ ಅವರ ನಿಧನದ ಸುದ್ದಿ ತಿಳಿದು ತೀವ್ರ ದುಃಖವಾಯಿತು. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳೆರಡರಲ್ಲೂ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಛಾಪು ಮೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ಜನಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವನ್ನೇ ಮುಡಿಪಾಗಿಟ್ಟ ಅಪರೂಪದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಬೈಲಹೊಂಗಲ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ ಶಾಸಕರಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ 1996ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಲೋಕಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದ ಸಂಸದರಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿ ಜನಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಲೋಕೋಪಯೋಗಿ ಸಚಿವರಾಗಿ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಒತ್ತು ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಸ್ತೆ, ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ್ದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಿ, ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ರೂಪಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕೆ.ಎಲ್.ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಅವರ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕಾಳಜಿ ಸದಾ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ. ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಸಮಾಜದ ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡಿದ ಅವರ ಜೀವನ ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸದಾ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರ ಅಗಲಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ತುಂಬಲಾರದ ನಷ್ಟ ಉಂಟಾಗಿದೆ. ಒಬ್ಬ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಯಕನನ್ನು, ಅನುಭವದ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಕರನ್ನು ನಾಡು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಭಗವಂತನು ದಿವಂಗತ ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವಾನಂದ ಕೌಜಲಗಿ ಅವರ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿರಶಾಂತಿ ನೀಡಲಿ. ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ, ಬಂಧುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಪಾರ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಭರಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಓಂ ಶಾಂತಿ. 🙏

He highlighted that Koujalagi prioritised educational growth in the rural areas of North Karnataka, playing a crucial role in shaping the futures of thousands of students. His contributions to the development of the KLE Society, his visionary approach to education, and his deep concern for society will always be remembered.
Valuing societal progress and the future of future generations over power and status, his life and service will remain an eternal inspiration to all. His demise has caused an irreparable loss to the political, educational, and social spheres, and the state has lost a senior leader and an experienced mentor.
"I pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul of Sri Shivanand Koujalagi and give strength to his family members, relatives, and countless admirers to bear this grief," Bommai stated. (ANI)
