Google celebrates Spain's historic FIFA World Cup 2026 triumph with interactive doodle

Washington [US], July 20 (ANI): Google has unveiled a vibrant and interactive Doodle celebrating the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, transforming its homepage into a digital theatre inspired by the tournament's dramatic final between Argentina and Spain.
Designed as more than a static illustration, the Doodle reflects the energy and emotion of football's biggest stage.
The artwork features a constantly shifting Google logo, with its 'O' letters pulsing and changing to mirror the excitement of the championship clash.
The visual theme alternates between Argentina's sky blue and white stripes and Spain's red and gold colours, highlighting the contest between the two footballing nations.
The Doodle follows Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute of extra time, securing Spain's second FIFA World Cup title.
Spain controlled the match for long periods, enjoying 68 per cent possession while creating sustained attacking pressure. Young star Lamine Yamal played a key role in Spain's attacking play, although Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez produced 12 important saves to keep his side in contention throughout regular time.
Argentina adopted a defensive approach but struggled to threaten Spain's goal, managing only three shots and failing to register a shot on target. Their challenge became even tougher in the 93rd minute when midfielder Enzo Fernandez received a second yellow card and was sent off, leaving the defending champions with 10 players.
Spain eventually found the breakthrough in extra time when Pedro Porro delivered a cross that Nico Williams headed down at the far post. Ferran Torres met the ball with a first-time finish into the roof of the net, sealing a memorable victory.
Match statistics underlined Spain's dominance, with 20 total shots compared to Argentina's three, 11 shots on target against none, and a commanding 68-32 advantage in possession. (ANI)
