Nashville [US], October 27 (ANI): Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has reflected on the challenges of fame and how she navigates the unpredictability of life in the public eye after becoming the youngest songwriter inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame at the age of 36, according to E! News.
Swift received the honour at the 56th annual Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony, held at Music City Center in Nashville on October 26. During her acceptance speech, the Grammy-winning singer spoke about how her love for music has brought both recognition and unexpected challenges into her life.
“Fame, that’s sort of a byproduct of my love for music,” Swift said onstage. “It’s why a lot of people know the words to my music, which is awesome. It’s also why there’s sort of like these daily random doses of chaos that just pop up in my life every once in a while, every couple of hours.”
The ‘Blank Space’ singer, who received the induction during her first year of eligibility, explained that she relies on her memories and experiences to maintain perspective when life becomes overwhelming.
“That can be kind of weird, but I have tools in place in my mind that help me navigate that and get back to true north when life feels so bizarre,” she said.
“Those tools are my memories and the memories that I visit most frequently when I need to return back to some semblance of remembering what normalcy is and why I do this,” Swift added, as per the outlet.
Reflecting on her early days in Nashville, Swift recalled arriving in the city as a young songwriter and beginning her journey on Music Row. She secured a music deal at the age of 14 and said the experience taught her the importance of dedication and repetition in developing her craft.
“I was like a sponge, and I have really curly hair, and it was yellow, so I kind of looked like a sponge too,” she quipped.
“But I learned by repetition. I think you truly learn a craft when you do it over and over and over and that is what the magnificent songwriters that work in this amazing town do,” she said.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Swift said Nashville had played a defining role in shaping her career and strengthening her passion for songwriting.
“It’s not lost on me how crazy this is. I will cherish it forever because Nashville is the place that honed and polished the thing about myself and the thing about my life that I am the most proud of and the most passionate about,” she said, according to E! News.
Swift had earlier expressed her excitement over the honour when the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame announced her induction in August.
“From the time I started writing songs as a child, I fixated on Nashville as the perfect place to be,” she said in a statement at the time.
“I wanted to learn with and from the best and get to immerse myself in a community of storytellers, and thankfully Nashville turned out to be exactly what I’d dreamed of,” she added.
Describing the city as a place that encouraged creativity and perseverance, Swift said it “validated and prioritised hard work, determination and imagination.”
“Where the writers show up to work every day even when the mysterious muses and the magic don’t,” she said, adding, “To be honoured by this city I love so much is a beautiful thing, and I’m very grateful,” according to E! News.
The Nashville honour marks Swift’s second songwriting Hall of Fame induction this year. In June, she became the youngest person inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City.
During that ceremony, Swift thanked her parents, Andrea and Scott Swift, and her brother, Austin Swift, for making significant changes to their lives to support her musical ambitions.
“It was easy to choose songwriting over everything else in my life,” she said. “But it couldn't have been easy for my parents and my brother to just pick up and move our entire family from Pennsylvania to relocate to Nashville, so that I could hone my craft in the songwriting capital of the world, “ according to E!
